Custom projects

Project funds

The SUA wants to encourage members of the Ultimate community (clubs and players) to develop and implement their own projects.

It therefore allocates a yearly budget to fund these projects. Projects are given priority for financial support if they:

  • contribute to an increase in the number of players;
  • raise awareness/visibility of Ultimate in general,
  • support the development of Ultimate as a youth sport,
  • support diversity and inclusion.

Project funds

There are 3 project categories:

  • Small Project: up to 1,000
  • Medium Project: approx. 2,000 CHF
  • Large Project: over 4,000 CHF

A project evaluation committee (SUA President, SUA Treasurer, SUA Club Consultant, and two elected club members from alternating clubs, each serving a two-year term) reviews the project proposals. The following criteria and questions serve to direct their decision-making process.

Goals and relevance - Is the goal being pursued clearly and understandably stated?
- Is the project relevant to the development of Swiss Ultimate?
Reach and diversity

- How many people will the project reach?

- How broad is the target audience it reaches?

- Does the project target underrepresented groups in our Ultimate Community?

Sustainability - Do the project’s effects continue even after it has ended?
- Are the positive effects also felt over the long term?
- Can the project also lead to the implementation or support of other projects?
Expertise and Motivation - Has a successful project been launched before?
- Are project team members working in this area outside the Ultimate community as well?
- Is there a noticeable level of motivation?
- Is the project leadership able to carry out this project independently, or does additional support need to be provided?
Costs - How much will the project cost?
- How much effort will it take to carry out the project?
- How long will the project take?
- How many internal SUA resources will be tied up?
- Will efforts be made to secure funding from outside the SUA (e.g., sponsorship)?

After the project has been realised:

- They create a post on BeUnity containing a short description and a picture.
- They enter their learnings and best practices here on Bookstack.
